goal
7/4/14
In December 2012, I made a commitment to raise enough money ($1000) to build a "Jesus Well" for village in India.
But I got embarrassed about asking people for money. It is really hard for me. So i gave up and only collected $581.00 (and over half of that as donated by Bruce and I, because I am so bad at asking for donations).
That money has been used to help build a well, but I want to meet my commitment to raise the full amount total that I promised.
SO I plan to ride as much of the Oregon Coast Bikeway as I can, and ask for donations by the miles I complete.
The total route is 368 miles or so. 5 cents a mile would be at most $18.40.
Please join me in getting water to people whose lives could be transformed by access to clean water.
The girl who couldn't pull up the courage to sell girl scout cookies - really - is now the woman who has passed the 5 year survival mark for metastatic colon cancer. The published 5 year survival rate is 5.9%.
Time to Celebrate!
If donating is not your thing, not to worry. Just join me in being grateful that not only am I alive, but healthy enough physically to even attempt this bike ride.
Thanks,
Gussie Roth
12/2012
I am alive (which is pretty amazing after metastatic cancer and surgeries and all) and am looking forward to 2013! Yippie!
To help me celebrate, I would like anyone who is interested to give some money to help build a "Jesus Well" in Asia.
Here I am in Portland, with an abundance of clean water. But there are so many women and children who are forced to walk for hours every day, carrying water. And/or are forced to drink dirty, gross water and deal with water-borne diseases. In some places, if someone becomes a Christian, they are no longer allowed to use the local water sources. But these "Jesus Wells"are always free for everyone to use. Kinda like the free spiritual water from Jesus.
No need to give a lot - just a little is great. The more people involved, the merrier.
If this is not for you, not to worry! Just join me in being grateful that I am getting more time here. And that I feel better than I have in years.
Thank you so much!

Read below to learn about where donations go.
Jesus Wells increase the health standards of a village, allowing for children to be nourished and animals to be watered. The wells you provide are located in the village or community, so women and children no longer have to walk hours to find water.
With one well you can save an entire village from waterborne illnesses.
Unlike the dirty water from stagnant ponds, streams or old shallow wells, this water is clean and creates an awareness of good hygiene, leading to fewer medical problems and healthier people.
